have you seen the tv show, ugly betty? basically, it's about a young woman who is not as beautiful as her coworkers but who's personality shines brighter than any outward beauty could.now abc has launched a campaign aimed at young women called BE UGLY IN 2007. it's slogan is: "be real, be smart, be passionate, be determined, be kind, be honest, be true to yourself, be ugly."
i'm not sure asking america to "be ugly" is going to be effective, but i think the rest of the message is good. check out the website for yourself.
